The department of Islamic Studies is endeavouring to impart to the students the knowledge bases on tradition and acquaint them with critical thinking. To inculcate the spirit of tolerance and patience in order to promote communal harmony and mutual understanding in a pluralistic society.

The department of Islamic Studies was established in the year 1993. The department functioned with a contractual lecturer utpto 1995-96. The permanent post was filled in the year 1997. The first Assistant Professor was miss Subeena Chiloo, who worked hard for the Upliftment of the discipline. The main objective of the department is to impart the teachings and Knowledge of Islam/Muslim culture in a modern perspective. It will not only provide the necessary knowledge to the students about the subject but also teach them the rights, duties and respect for the humanity and the society they live in.
