Physics is the interesting branch of science concerned with the study of properties and interactions of space, time, matter and energy. The ultimate aim of physics is to find a unified set of laws governing matter, motion, and energy at small (microscopic) subatomic distances, at the human (macroscopic) scale of everyday life, and out to the largest distances (extragalactic scale). The study of physics makes us try to fight selflessly to reach truth and objectivity. It also teaches to accept reality with awe and admiration, needless to mention the amazement and joy that come along with it.

Department of Physics has a glorious and illustrious past in the annals of AS College history. It has been in existence from the time the College started functioning in 1942 and has been teaching UG courses in the College. It has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty who are actively engaged in research and academic activities and have earned recognition far and wide. The Department has spacious and well equipped laboratories, modern apparatus and computer laboratory with internet facility. The primary vision of the department is to excel in teaching and to train, motivate and enthuse undergraduate students in theoretical and experimental skills so as to prepare them for the pursuit of higher education, as well as for employment in R&D organizations, educational institutions, and industries.
