Ever since the Department of Geography started its journey over five decades back, the Department has been simultaneously, consistently and successfully performing the multiple roles of creating new knowledge, acquiring new capabilities and producing an intelligent human resource pool contributing in various domains of the society. The Department has always been on a higher growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with strong commitment who work with zeal and zest to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment. The growth of expertise of faculty of the department is commendable. In lieu of the Department’s vision, the holistic development of the students is focused upon that instills a habit of continued learning and sense of responsibility in them to contribute towards the betterment of the society. The periodically updated curriculum imports technical knowledge to the students and the application based environment in the state of the art laboratories compliments the same. The students are motivated to participate in the presentations, workshops, and seminars that are essential in maintaining proficiency. The highly experienced and motivated faculty members are always in the process of tuning the young minds to make them globally competitive. Novel methods of teaching and learning process are adopted to achieve excellence in learning abilities. Department has an excellent infrastructure and provides a conducive environment to promote academic excellence. A strong positive reputation of the Department attracts students from other disciplines and a significant proportion of our students have qualified country’s prestigious examinations.
